Join the Adoption-Informed Therapist Program to learn new skill sets to help your clients heal and thrive.
Hi, I'm Jessica. I’m a therapeutic social worker with over 20 years of experience helping adoptive parents navigate their parenting journeys.
I’m passionate about ensuring that adoptive families have access to the therapy they need, with practitioners who truly understand them and can actually help.
That’s why training therapists and adoption professionals is a big part of what I do.
Adoptive families often struggle for years to find the right kind of support because there are not enough professionals out there who have the skills to meet their unique needs.
The Adoption-Informed Therapist Program is designed to change that.
The program will help you take your skill base to the next level and serve adoptive families with the specific expertise they need and deserve.
If you’re ready to learn skill sets that allow you to approach your work with more understanding and ease, and if you’re ready to feel more proactive and empowered in your therapeutic work, join me in the Adoption-Informed Therapist Program.
See you soon,
Jessica
Over the course of 6 sessions, I’ll help you to develop your understanding of adoption and its impact, gain a clear framework for how to approach therapy with adoptive families, and navigate therapeutic issues with more confidence.
You’ll gain an understanding of the different types of adoption and the reasons why children come to their forever families. You’ll explore the steps along the adoption journey and understand the key frameworks underpinning the process. I’ll be your guide as you create a strong container for your therapeutic practice.
You’ll develop your awareness of adoption-specific issues and traumas. You’ll understand how they impact upon your clients and know how to approach your work with the legacy of the past in mind. I’ll provide you with the knowledge you need to develop greater insights into working with adopted children and their families.
You’ll gain a clear understanding of how to approach your work through an adoption-informed lens. You’ll have the knowledge and skills you need to better understand your clients and create sound case conceptualization. I’ll provide you with a clear set of tools so that you can move forward feeling grounded and confident.
You’ll understand how to approach your work through a model of trauma recovery. This will provide you with a clear framework and support you as you integrate adoption-specific strategies and approaches. You’ll feel more resourced along the therapeutic journey.
You’ll learn how to manage the common challenges that come up while maintaining a sound therapeutic alliance. I’ll help you gain skill sets so that you feel confident moving your clients forward and out of overwhelm, gridlock, and pain.
You’ll know how to increase your own resilience and support yourself as you work with adoption traumas. You’ll have additional skills for managing your own triggers so that you can approach your work feeling regulated and balanced. I’ll provide you with knowledge, compassion, and encouragement along the way.
The Adoption-Informed Therapist Program helps you to support this process in a knowledgeable, grounded, and confident way. I hope you’ll join me in the program.
The program takes place live on Zoom.
We meet for 6 sessions that take place on a weekly basis.
Each session lasts for 90 minutes.
During each of the 6 sessions, you’ll experience Jessica’s teaching, have group discussion, and Q&A time.
You’ll get a lot of information, along with the personal guidance you need to apply the concepts to your own practice.
You’ll receive handouts that go along with each session, so you can follow along and have additional tools to synthesize your learning.
Join the Adoption-Informed Therapist Program to receive the information and guidance you need to take your therapeutic practice to the next level.
When you do, you’ll be joining a movement to change the face of therapy for adoptive families.
You have a strong foundation.
You have been in therapeutic practice for at least 2 years.
Whether you are already working in the adoption field, or would like to begin focusing your work in this area, you will gain a lot of value from the program. You do not need to have previous experience working in adoption, but an interest in developing your practice in this area.
The teaching and learning around how to approach therapeutic practice through an adoption-informed lens are universal, regardless of where you’re based.
Therapists based in the UK, Europe, and the USA are welcome to join!
All cohorts have sold out for 2024!
Be sure to join the waitlist and be the first to know when enrolment opens for 2025.
Don't miss out. Spaces are limited and are offered on a first come, first served basis.
A vital programme for practitioners working in the field of adoption.
Very informative and easy to apply day to day in my role.
The group was warm and welcoming and Jessica held the space compassionately with her gentle nature and playful sense of humour.
I felt very held and supported throughout the course. Would thoroughly recommend to others.
The Adoption-Informed Therapist Program is a professional development program, not a certification or qualification.
It depends on the presenting issue. If the presenting issue is not adoption related, you do not need to be registered through Ofsted.
If you are working in private practice with an adopted child, and the presenting issue is adoption-related, you would either need to be registered as an Adoption Support Agency through Ofsted or have your work funded via the Adoption & Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF).
If your work is funded via the ASGSF, you come under the umbrella of the local authority’s Ofsted registration and are therefore covered, so you don’t need to worry.
No. You can work with adults affected by adoption, and you do not have to be registered with Ofsted.
Each local authority and regional adoption agency has their own criteria for preferred providers. When you complete the course, you’ll have a greater understanding of how to work with adopted children and their families. This knowledge will be helpful for any enquiries or applications you go on to make to become a preferred provider.
